It is about a 30 to 45 minute hike to Square Lake from the Ides Cove trailhead. Long Lake is another 45 minutes along the trail. The Ides Cove trailhead is 60 miles west of Red Bluff (approximately 2.5 hour drive) at 6500' elevation. A Forest and/or wilderness map would be very helpful in finding the trailhead and the correct trail to these lakes.
